“ For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we
Have another building of God, an house not made by hands,
eternal in the heavens” (2Cor 5:1)
Pamela Bailey, 60, of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Monday, May 18, 2020 at a local hospital. Arrangements are pending.
Pamela (Thomas) Bailey began this life’s journey on February 24, 1960 in Houston, TX. She was the third of six children. Her parents, Jetson Davis & Rita Mae Thomas and sister Sharon Thomas preceded her in death.
She attended Hopkins Public school in Woodbury County. She was employed as a supervisor for several years at InterBake Foods. Pam met a handsome young man named Keith Bailey on October 31, 1974, and it was love at first sight for them both. On November 8, 1976 they married and began this journey called life experiencing both ups and downs together. This year they would have celebrated 44 years of marriage demonstrating sacred vows for richer, poorer, in sickness and in health and yes until death do them part. She absolutely loved and adored her husband whom she affectionately and consistently cared for during his illness. To this union 6 beautiful children were born whom she loved with all her heart. Her family was her pride and joy! She beamed with excitement at each of her children and grandchildren’s accomplishments. In her spare time she loved family gatherings, shopping (loved a good sale), and being with her grandkids.
Pam gave her life to Christ and joined the Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Floyd E. Brown and continued on her ministries until going onto glory pastorate under Rev. Jay Robertson. She loved her pastor and her church. He described his beloved member like this “ Sis. Pam Bailey exemplified great faith! She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, friend and church member and boy did she love children! Her car would be filled with children on Sunday morning as she arrived for Sunday School; we usually arrived at the same time! I can hear her saying “Good morning pastor, I love you Pastor. To know her was to love her. She was one of the strongest women I’ve ever known. It was an honor to be her Pastor.”
She found her calling in working with the children’s ministry “Sunshine Band.” It brought her such joy working with children. She absolutely loved helping teach songs, skits, plays and other activities with the children. She loved children (especially her grandchildren) so much that she sacrificed her time, energy and resources. One of the many ways she demonstrated her love was to get them to Sunday School and church on time, she often had them spend Saturday nights at her house! Pam also enjoyed serving the Church and her Lord as the secretary of the Sunday School ministry. We will miss her beautiful smile, her warm embrace, her upbeat and energetic ways and her testimonials on the goodness of the Lord.
Pam went to be with the Lord on May 18, 2020 at Mercy Hospital. “ We are confident, yes, well pleased, rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” (2Cor 5:8)
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband Keith Bailey, Sr. Children: Keith Bailey Jr. (Amanda) Orlando, FL, Tiffany Bailey Omaha, NE, Dustin (DC) Bailey (Taylor), Brittni Perry (Roscoe), Destini Bailey, Thomas (Mikey) Bailey all of Sioux City, IA., Sisters: Diana Maria Banks (Victor), Carolyn Rita Thomas, Linda Gale Miles Thomas, Brothers: Jetson D.
