Ouida V. Patterson, 101 of Salix, passed away Friday, January 8, 2016 at her home.
Funeral Mass will be held 1:00pm Monday, January 11, 2016 at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Salix. Burial will follow after Mass at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1-3pm Sunday, January 10, 2016 with Rosary at 1:00 at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff, 400 4th Street.
Ouida V. Patterson was born September 5, 1914 in Salix, Iowa the daughter of Elmer and Evelyn (Lamoureux) Brouillette. Ouida lived in Salix all her life except for the time in Sloan, working in her beauty shop. She married Clarence Patterson March 15, 1938. Ouida worked as a beauty operator out of her home most of her life. She also wrote for the Sioux City Journal as a correspondent for Salix area for 20 years.
Ouida was always involved in church activities, Altar Society, DCCW, and Legion of Mary. Her favorite pass time was the Bridge Club, and playing scrabble.
She is survived by Mike (Linda) Patterson of Sloan, Ia., John (Jackie) Patterson of Dakota City, Ne., Pauline Schmitz of Council Bluffs, Ia., Jeanette Chicoine of Salix, Theresa (Lee) Girard of Sergeant Bluff, Ia., two sisters; EllaBelle Peterson of Sloan, Ia., Lois Holzman of LeMars, Ia., 23 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and two great- great grandchildren.
Ouida is preceded in death by her husband Clarence, three sons; Phillip, David, Jim, six siblings; Elaine, Delores, Iona, Errol, Lavon, Lillian and one great grandchild Grace.
