Oscar E. Ortiz, 50, of Sioux City, Iowa died Sunday, September 16, 2021 at a hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City is assisting the family with arrangements.

Oscar was born September 6, 1971 in San Antonio, Texas the son of Armondo and Hilda (Elizalde) Ortiz. He grew up in San Antonio and attended school there. Oscar married Karen Derby. Together they made their home in Sioux City.

Oscar worked at the County Tax Service while in San Antonio and was a musician and worked at Accura Health Services here in Sioux City. He is being inducted into the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. Family was his life and music was his game.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Ortiz of Sioux City; a son, Ian Ortiz of Akron, Iowa; two step-daughters, Starlynn Hansen and Kailee (Justice) Limoges, both of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Oaklynn, Camden and Zakiya; a sister, Veronica (Jim) Lee of San Antonio, TX;  and two step-brothers, Damion Ortiz of Sioux City and Daniel Ortiz of Oklahoma.

He is preceded in death by his father.
