Orma J. DeWitt, 89 of Sioux City, died on Saturday, March 4, 2023.

Services will be held 10:00 am, on Thursday March 9, 2023, at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Burial will be following services at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Orma was born on October 18, 1933, in Castana, Iowa the daughter of Homer and Sarah (Johnson) Kendall. When Sarah remarried, Newell Lund helped raise Orma on their farm near Soldier. She graduated from the Soldier High School in 1951. She then attended Business College to further her education. On July 13, 1956, Orma was united in marriage to Homer DeWitt, Jr. in Soldier. Orma worked for the Wagner, Garrison and Abbott Livestock Commission Merchant Company in Sioux City. She became a stay-at-home mom after Kerry’s birth. Orma worked over a decade.

Orma enjoyed being with her grandchildren and also going to visit relatives in the nursing homes over the years. Orma’s pastimes included growing flowers, baking, growing rhubarb, and also playing the organ. In addition to always having loyal farm dogs, she often had uncharacteristic pets, including a Guinea hen and a cow.

Orma is survived by her husband of 66 years, Homer, their son Rocky DeWitt, grandchildren James (Natalie) DeWitt, Kolby (Jessica) DeWitt and Nathan DeWitt, 9 great- grandchildren, her sisters, Connie Casavant and Marcella Hart, and daughter-in-law, Coral DeWitt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Kerry in 2020, two grandchildren Jeffrey and Justin DeWitt, one brother Brady Lund and a sister, Lois Lesenyie.
