Orin C. "Sonny" Allen, Jr., 76, North Sioux City, SD, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Accura Healthcare. Per his wishes, Orin will be cremated and a celebration of his life will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Orin was born on May 8th, 1942 in Richland, SD, son of Orin C. Allen, Sr. and Viva (Shoop) Allen. He graduated from Sergeant Bluff High School.

Orin was known as Sonny by his family. He enlisted into the United States Marine Corps in 1960, and was honorably discharged in 1966. He came back to the United States and married Sharon Kay Lewis on November 23, 1967.

Orin worked at GTA/ Harvest States Grain Elevator and AG Processing (soybean plant) for most of his life, retiring in 2008.  He loved to read, watch TV, play cards and other games, and going for long rides. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family, especially playing with his great-grandson, Keenan.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Sharon Allen; daughter, Sherri K. (Allen) Dudley; granddaughter, Brittany Lynn Allen; great-grandson, Keenan Andre Allen; sisters, Marlis (Fred) Welch of Mr. Vernon, WA and Janice (Jim) Conway of Emerson, NE; brothers, Garry Allen of Sloan, Ron Allen of Sergeant Bluff, and Steve (Myrtie) Allen of Lawton; many nieces and nephews and other family.

Orin was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law, Ruth and Roger Lisenby; father-in-law, Virgil Lewis; sister, Joyce Getz; sister-in-law, Kathy Lewis; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Lewis.
