Norma Lucille Thies, 94, of Sioux City, IA, formerly of Moville, IA passed away November 28, 2024, at Sunrise Retirement Home.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation 1 hour prior at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville, IA.  Burial will be at Fairfield Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Norma was born on December 14, 1929, in Hinton, IA to Cecil and Thelma (Dicus) Scoles. After high school, she worked at Disneyland in California as a teacup operator as well as at the telephone company. Of all the work Norma did in her life, her most cherished role was that of homemaker. After many years as a stay-at-home mom, she went back to work as a school lunch lady at Woodbury Central School. Along with watching her Grandchildren as they grew up.

Norma was united in marriage to Duane Thies on June 20, 1948, at Salem Lutheran Church in rural Woodbury County Iowa. Norma enjoyed her family and friends to the fullest, enjoyed golf, baking, and cooking She was a devoted member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville, as well as She was a member of the Meadows Golf Course in Moville.

Norma will be deeply missed by all especially by her daughter, Julie Thies (Brian); grandchildren: Lindsay (Tim) Green, Haylee Meyer, and Jeff Dicus; and great-granddaughter, Kayleeann Green; brother-in-law, Gene (Peggy) Wink.

Norma is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Duane, and his siblings and their spouses, and a son, Greg Thies.
