Nancy Ann Remington, age 72, of Sioux City passed away on Thursday August 21, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday August 26, 2014 at Four Directions Center in Sioux City with Wyatt Thomas officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the center. Nancy was born in Sioux City on February 10, 1942, the daughter of Henry B, and Malvina Mary “ Mikulicz” Denney. She resided her entire life in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School with the class of 1960. She was united in marriage with Richard E. Remington on February 10, 1961 at Whitfield United Methodist Church in Sioux City. Richard preceded Nancy in death on September 17, 1998 in Sioux City.
She owned and operated Rems Detective Agency in Sioux City for a few years, and also worked as a homemaker and secretary for a few years. In the 1990’s she attended Western Iowa Technical College and received her Associates degree in nursing. Following nursing school, Nancy worked at several local nursing homes retiring in 2007.
Nancy was an enrolled member of the Santee Sioux Nation of Nebraska. She enjoyed painting pillowcases, her native culture, and was always an excellent advocator for her entire family. She cherished the time she could spend with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Nancy is survived by her daughters: Lorri Walker (Pat) of Sioux City and Judy Boulware (Perry) of Sioux City. A sister Karen Chellew (Mark) of Kingsley, Iowa, her five grandchildren: Rick Remington (Ginger), Jeremy Boulware( Jessica), Cody Boulware (Kelly) Bobbi Jo Walker (David Meyers) and Justin Walker, along with her six great-grandchildren, her aunts: Wannita Whitlock and Dorothy Hansen (Arlo). She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins and her special niece Jackie Hahn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard, 3 brothers in infancy and a brother Gerald H. Denney.
