Monica M. Wiggs, 76, of Sioux City, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2011. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Visitation will be held 5-8 Sunday evening at the church with a vigil service at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.
Monica was born April 28, 1935 to Charles and Agnes (Meduna) Stanislav in Blencoe, Iowa. She was one of thirteen children. She grew up in Sioux City and attended Heelan High School. Monica married Charles Wiggs in May of 1953 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City. Monica was a housewife for many years and held other part-time jobs at various grocery stores. She later worked for IBP then Siouxland Beef for 22 years, retiring at the age of 62. Monica was an avid reader, and loved to go antiquing and rummaging. Her greatest love was for her grandchildren.
Monica is survived by her sons Craig Wiggs and his wife Janine of Sioux City and their children: Carmen, Max, Charles, Allen, and Kelli, Dan Wiggs and his wife Kathy of Sioux City and their children Zach, Katie, Ben, and Allye, Mike Wiggs of Sioux City and his children: David, Steven, and Michaela, Doug Wiggs and his wife Betsy of Normal, Illinois and their children Tyler, Chase, and Lindsey, her daughters Teresa Angerman and her husband Gerry of Sioux City and their children: Kelsey and Kali, Julie Uitermark and her husband Dwayne of Parnell, Iowa and their children: Dan and Jessie, Laurie Thompson and her husband Blane of Parnell, Iowa and child: Haley, Kris Lower and her husband Joe of Sergeant Bluff, and their children: KeAnn, Mollie, and Logan, Carla Baker and her husband John of Sergeant Bluff, and their children: Drew and Alexis, great-grandchildren Asher, Walter, Jack, Marin, and Camarin, siblings: Leonard Stanislav and his wife Emma Lou of Onawa, Iowa, Bernice Fitzpatrick of Sioux City, Ben Stanislav and his wife Betty of Omaha, Charlie Stanislav and his wife Pat of Maryland, Frances O’Dea of Sioux City, Alice Cederberg and her husband Herb of Minnesota, Linda Schroeder of Omaha, Kathy Powell and her husband Jim of Sioux City, and Ivan Stanislav and his wife Mary of Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles, Son David, and three sisters Rita Horan, Agnes Phister, and Marie Stanislav.
Memorials may be directed in Monica’s name to the Hospice of Siouxland.
