Mireya Maldonado

Mireya Maldonado, 67, of Sioux City, IA, passed away April 5, 2026 at a Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, NE. A funeral service will be held Monday, April 13 at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation 1 hour prior at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Mireya was born in Mexico on August 17, 1958 to Juan and Rogelia Maldonado. She moved to the United States in 1962. Mireya enjoyed going to the casino, baking and cooking, especially her tamales and cakes. She worked at Cub Foods and then the South Sioux City Hy-Vee in the bakery since 2007 before retiring. She loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters.

Those left to honor her memory include her son, Gabriel Mejia; granddaughters: Abrielle and Adelynn Mejia; siblings: Juan Maldonado, Omar Maldonado, Leticia Curi, Rogelia Talamantes and Arnulfo Maldonado.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her son, Jesus Mejia and siblings: siblings Wenceslado and Valdemar Maldonado.
