Mildred Louise Myers, 104 of Sergeant Bluff, formerly of Graettinger, Iowa, died Friday, February 19, 2016 at Embassy Rehab and Care Center in Sergeant Bluff.
Services will be held 11 am Thursday, February 25, 2016 at the Graettinger United Methodist Church102 S. Cameron Avenue, Graettinger, Iowa. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery in Graettinger. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff.
Mildred was born on November 24, 1911 east of Graettinger, Iowa, the daughter of James and Mary (Hennick) Robinson. She attended Graettinger Public Schools and in 1929 she attended college to receive her teaching certificate. Mildred taught school until 1931, when she was united in marriage to W. Clare Myers. To this union 6 children were born, Merle, James, Wayne, John, Carol and Karen.
After Clare’s death in 1969, she worked various places. She was working until 1995 doing home health care. Mildred enjoyed bingo, playing cards, crocheting and visiting with her children and grandchildren.
Mildred was a member of the Graettinger United Methodist Church, the Ladies Aid and Eastern Star, and the VFW Auxiliary.
Mildred is survived by her sons Wayne Myers of Pueblo West, Colorado, and John “Jack” and his wife Anne of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; her daughters Carol and her husband Art Neer of Bismarck, North Dakota and Karen Mahan, also of Bismarck; and one daughter-in law, Mavis Myers of Valley City, North Dakota; 23 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 brothers and sisters, 2 sons, Merle Myers and James Myers, and a great-granddaughter.
