Mildred Anna “Millie” Burt, 97, of Sergeant Bluff, IA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2026. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
Millie was born on January 13, 1929 in Waukon, IA to Minnie (Steffenson) and Peter Olson. She was baptized March 3, 1929 in the Lutheran Church. She married her beloved husband Wayne on December 16, 1949 and together they shared 51 wonderful years together. Millie was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed baking- especially cookies, and flower gardening. In her later years, she became an avid reader. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Millie and Wayne were members of Morningside Lutheran Church for several decades. She loved teaching preschool at the church. They relocated to Springfield, MO and she later resided in Franklin, TN.
She is survived by 2 sisters: Ella Mae (Allen) Goeke, Waukon, IA and Lillian Jahnke, Postville, IA; many nieces and nephews; daughter Cheryl (Denny Blatchford) Johnson, Sioux City, IA; 6 grandchildren: Shelley (Charles) Hensley, Columbia, TN, Dean Johnson, North Plains, OR, Andy (Karyn) Johnson, Thompson Station, TN, Brianna (Mike) Lockhart, Buffalo, MO, Emily (Jake) Puebla, Republic, MO; 13 great-grandchildren: Karly Franz, Neil Schneringer, Jake, Cannon, and Bodie Johnson, Natalie Hensley, Kelly (Edwin) Flemming, Hailey, Tegan, and Alison Johnson, Kenady, Zander, and Henley Lockhart.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne; son, Larry; and son-in-law, Bruce Johnson.
