Michael W. "Mike" Ellsworth, 71, of Sioux City, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2020. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, July 3, 2020 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave., with Military Honors provided by the United States Army. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Monday, July 6, 2020. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, July 2, 2020 at the funeral home.

Mike was born on November 6, 1948 in Sioux City, the son of Donald and June (Burke) Ellsworth. He graduated from East High School in 1968. In November of 1968, Mike married Cheryl Pinney.

Mike was drafted into the United States Army in 1969 during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1971. In 1990, Mike married his 2nd wife, Julie, and added four step-daughters (Cara, Holly, Joey, and Erin) to the family.  In 2006, while driving city bus, he met his final love of his life, Annie Bentsen, who succumbed to lung cancer December 15, while Mike was in ICU at UNMC Hospital in Omaha, NE. Back in Sioux City, Mike worked for his father-in-law, Delno J. Pinney driving a dump truck, later he worked for Lindblom Sanitation. Lastly, Mike worked for the city Sioux City transportation, driving a city bus for ten years, retiring in 2010.

Mike enjoyed going to Argosy Casino on Tuesdays, and watching golf and bowling on TV.

Survivors include his two sons, Jeffrey (Sherri) Ellsworth of Grand Island, NE., Benjamin Ellsworth of Fremont, NE; two brothers, Donald (Mary) Ellsworth of Fort Worth, TX.,   Thomas Ellsworth of Dallas, TX; and five grandchildren, Christian, Preston, Jasmine, Ella, and Gavin.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Offert; and two brothers, Jim and Joe Ellsworth.
