Michael Ross VanderMeulen was born on June 12, 1967 in Harlan, Iowa. He attended schools in Walnut and Sioux City. Michael was united in marriage to Marie Altimus on February 14.  Marie died May 26, 2012.

Michael worked at Broadmoor and currently at Good Samaritan Society in Le Mars. Michael enjoyed riding his motocycle with his wife, fishing, playing pool and target shooting.

Michael is survived by his son Michael L. VanderMeulen, daughters Joanna (Robert) Ebersbach and Heather Altimus, grandchildren Elijah Altimus and Noah Gamet, his mother Carol Parman, and sisters Jayne VanderMeulen-Knight and Teresa Sturtevant.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marie and his adopted father, Cliff Boucher.
