Michael James Montagne, 73, of Sioux City, IA, passed away April 26, 2024. A memorial service will be held at 11a.m., Tuesday April 30, 2024, at St Paul Lutheran Church, 612 Jennings St Sioux City IA 51101, with luncheon to follow at St Paul’s school gymnasium.  Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Michael was born May 22, 1950, in Sioux City IA to James W Montagne and Beverly A Buhman. Michael attended schools in Jefferson SD and Hinton IA. After high school, Mike enlisted into the Army from 1968 to 1971, receiving an honorable discharge. During this time, he married the love of his life, Carolyn S Milbrodt, on February 13, 1969. To this union, two children were born, James and Dana. Michael made his career working for the City of Sioux City, operating various pieces of machinery. He enjoyed driving the maintainer the most. During this time, Mike also enlisted into the 185th (TFW) ANG from 1985 to 1988. After retirement from the city, Mike still needed to stay busy, therefore continued his driving career for a local trucking company and Siouxland Regional Transit System. Michael enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a great storyteller and always tried to put a smile on your face.

Survivors include son, James (Cortnie) Montagne, daughter, Dana Montagne. Grandchildren Joshua (Jade) Montagne, Brady Montagne (Veronica), Joslyn and (Rachel) Montagne. Great grandchildren, Jetta, Lennex, Leo Montagne, and Ma Kenna Moreland,
Sister, Sharon Kittler.  Brother, Dennis (Pam) Montagne.

He is preceded in death by his wife Carolyn, parents Jim and Bev, brother-in-law Ivan Kittler.
