Michael Paul Francis, 77, of Sioux City, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at a local hospital. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City with Rev. Terry A. Roder officiating. Refreshments will be offered following the service, at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date.

Mike was born on July 12, 1940 in Sioux City to John and Elizabeth (Farley) Francis. He graduated from Central High School in 1959. Mike enlisted into the United States Navy in 1958 and was honorably discharged in 1965. He married Judith Roepke on December 28, 1963 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sioux City.

Mike worked for various railroad companies in the Sioux City area over the years, retiring as a car and wrecking foreman after twenty plus years. Following retirement, Mike continued to work at various places in Sioux City.

Mike was an avid vegetable and flower gardener and loved working on his landscape. He enjoyed watching and feeding the wildlife that would often visit their yard. Mike loved to travel and take care of his family. He had a great sense of humor and a sharp wit.

Survivors include his wife, Judy; children, M. Shawn (Cheri) Francis and Laurie Francis, all of Sioux City; grandchildren, Tony, Scott, William, and Christine; great grandson, James; step grandchildren, Nate and Mackensie; three nephews; and one niece.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim; and sister, Pat.
