Michael (Mick) Drea, 85, of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2015.
Visitation will be on Sunday, May 24th from 5-8 p.m. at Waterbury Funeral Home, 4125 Orleans Avenue, Sioux City, Iowa, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 25th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oto, Iowa, with Father Daniel Greving officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Oto.
Mick was born on October 25th, 1929, to Matthew and Florence (Sengleman) Drea in Danbury, Iowa. He attended school at Oto Public School, graduating with the Class of 1947. He married Donna Green on January 5th, 1952, in Oto, Iowa.
Mick recently stated, “I’m so lucky to get up every day and do what I love.” He was passionate about farming and had a real knack for fixing equipment. He often built items to be used on his farm. Mick’s favorite activity on the farm was operating his bulldozer. It was while working on building a terrace with his bulldozer that he passed away.
Mick will be remembered for his deep commitment to his family. He was always there when they needed him, and he was very generous to his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Donna of Sergeant Bluff, four children, Terry of Los Angeles, California; Greg (Lori Hubert) of Hornick, Iowa; Cindy (Myles) Konopasek of Yankton, South Dakota; and Brett (Nichole) of Ankeny, Iowa; ten grandchildren, Lexa, Cassi, Alex, Niki, Drew, Brennan, Brandon, Kaylee, MaKenna and Brayden; two great grandchildren, Colton and Mia; two sisters; Gerry Meylor of Oto; and Janice (Lee) West of Barnsdall, Oklahoma.
He was proceeded in death by his son; Maurey, his parents, father-in-law, Hans Green, mother-in-law, Dorothy (Green) Philp, brother-in-law, Ken Volk and nephew, Patrick Farber.
