Michael Barazia, age 67, passed away on January 19, 2026, in Omaha, NE. He had been a resident of Sergeant Bluff, IA. A memorial service will be held Saturday. March 14 at 1:00 p.m. at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Avenue. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Michael was born on August 8, 1958, in Brooklyn, NY, to Armando Barazia and Elizabeth (Miller) Barazia. He was raised in Brooklyn and was a graduate of Xaverian High School. He continued his education at Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, MD, and later earned his graduate degree from Niagara University in Niagara Falls, NY.
Michael is survived by his children, Christine Barazia of Detroit, MI, and Andrew (Nicole) Barazia of Denver, CO; his brother, Matthew (Virginia) Barazia of Vienna, VA; and his beloved grandchildren: Leo and Ella of Denver, CO. He is also survived by his nieces: Cara, New Haven, CT and Jana, Tampa, FL, and his former wife, Susan Barazia, Denver, CO.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth (Miller) Barazia in 2008, and his father Armando Barazia, in 2022.
Michael will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his lifelong commitment to education, and the lasting relationships he built throughout his life. He dedicated much of his life to supporting others, both professionally and personally.
Professionally, he spent his entire career in Quality Assurance, beginning in the pharmaceutical industry and concluding in the food industry, where his integrity, attention to detail, and strong work ethic were widely respected.
For almost 20 years, he served as a billet parent for the Sioux City Musketeers, opening his home and heart to over 50 young athletes, providing them with guidance, stability, and encouragement, and leaving a lasting impact in the community. A lifelong lover of the game, he also played goalie in an adult hockey league, a role that reflected both his competitive spirit, sense of fun, and incredible reliability.
He was also active in his church community and was known as a caring and dependable presence among his neighbors, whom he considered good friends.
