Michael Dean Archer, 81, of Sioux City, IA passed away November 3, 2023, surrounded by his family at his home.  A funeral service will be held Friday, November 10th at 11:00 a.m. at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mike was born on March 26, 1942, in Mapleton, IA to Jesse and Ethel (Armstrong) Archer. He was raised in Sioux City and lived here all of his life.  He was united in marriage to Verlinda West.  On July 17, 1969, he married Patricia Newman in South Sioux City. Mike worked as a printer at the Dakota Star, Sioux City Journal, Bear Graphics and Artisan Press.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and a cold beer.  Mike loved spending time with his family and especially adored his grandkids and great grandkids.

Those left to honor his memory include his children: Michael Shane (Sarah) Archer of Sioux City,  Bobbette (Ron) Norby of Sioux City, Kim (Dave) Riordan of Pierson, Iowa, and Justine (Adam) Harrington of Sioux City; 10 grandkids; several great-grandchildren; his brother and sisters: Vern (Laurie) Johns, Rapid City, SD, Judy Mae (Gary) Blair, Allen, NE, Sandi (Bob) Dodds, Sioux City, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia; siblings: Geri, Frank and Guy Johns; Danny Archer, Bob Archer, Phil Archer and Jack Archer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Harder, the 6 southwest nurses at Mercy, the Heart Team, Kidney Specialists, P.A.’s,  Dr. Wente, and Hospice of the Midwest for all of the wonderful care given to Michael.
