Mercedes Elaine Mount, 91, of Sioux City, IA, passed away October 11, 2023, at a local nursing home.  Per her wishes, there will be no services at this time.  Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City is assisting the family.

Mercedes was born on November 15, 1931, in Ottumwa, IA to Myron and Ruth (Wagner) Cantril.  She attended Iowa School of The Deaf in Council Bluffs, IA.  Mercedes was united in marriage to James Oliver Mount and together they moved to Phoenix, AZ.  In Phoenix she enjoyed going to the Senior Center.  Mercedes moved back to Sioux City in 2004.  She had worked as a presser at Hovland Manufacturing for 15 years.  She loved her dogs and will be remembered for her laugh.

Those left to honor her memory include her children: Jerry (Tammy) Mount, Sioux City, IA, Richard (Patricia) Mount, McCook Lake, SD, David (Lynn Greene) Mount, CO, and Jean (Don) Ryan, CO; siblings: Sonny, Ruth Ann and Susie; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and several brothers and sisters.
