Melvin Kohles went to the lord on September 9th after 80 yrs of bringing love and happiness into the lives of his wife of 60 yrs., his seven children, 18 grandchildren and 9 great grand children.
Services will be held 3:30 pm on Friday, September 12, 2013 at Church of the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ. A visitation will be held from 4-8 with family present from 6-8 and a rosary at 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will be at 12:00 noon, on Saturday, September 13, 2014 in Bloomfield, Nebraska.
Melvin was born September 8th, 1934 in Earling, IA to Peter and Elizabeth Kohles. He served in the US Armay stationed in Germany and retired from the 185th Air National Guard. He spent his working life in construction, trucking and as a pilot. He was a member of the American Legion and the Nativity Parish Men’s club. In his free time, he enjoyed square dancing, golfing, flying and rebuilding Volkswagons. He also enjoyed spending time with and teasing his grandchildren.
Melvin is survived by his wife Barbara, daughters Wendy and Charlie Crain of Ackley, IA, Kim Benson of Mitchell, S.D., Kelly and Bill Blatchford of Sioux City, IA. And Holly and Todd White of Greeley, CO. Sons Steve and Marilyn Kohles of Aberdeen, SD and Scott and Jeni Kohles of Windsor, CO. and 27 grand children and great-grandchildren.
Melvin is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and his infant daughter Connie.
He was a wonderful husband and father and will be greatly missed.
