Maxine was born on April 15, 1923 in Oto, Iowa, the daughter of Ivel and Iva (Coon) Hayworth. She was raised in Oto and attended school there. Maxine married Leo Dicks and they lived happily together for 53 years until his death in 1991. The couple lived in Oto and then moved to Hornick where they raised their family. During World War II she worked at the Sergeant Bluff Air Force Base and then later at the Westwood Elementary School.

Her family meant everything to her and she enjoyed spending her life caring for them. She loved going places with her sisters (known to everyone as the 3 sisters) and they shared many laughs together. Maxine also enjoyed traveling with her family from the Pacific to the Atlantic. Her favorite memory was a trip to New Orleans where they stayed on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter and then went on a dinner cruise on a paddle boat up the Mississippi River.

Maxine is survived by her 4 sons; Larry and Evelyn of Anthon, Steve and Kathy of Hornick, Randy and Eric of Tampa and Jamie of Hornick; two daughters, Peggy and Phil Feddersen of Onawa and Kathy and Scott Blakely of Smithland. She is also leaving behind a sister, Phyllis Dowling of Hornick, a sister-in-law Delores Hayworth of Klemme, Iowa; 8 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leo, her parents, her brother Norman Hayworth, her sister Doris Thompson, and brother-in-laws Glen Plummer, Don Thompson and Leonard Dowling.
