Mavis Eileen Jaynes, age 85, of Sioux City passed away on Sunday December 2, 2012 at a local care facility.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Friday December 7, 2012 from Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff with Rev. Roger Madden of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5-8pm with the family present 6-8pm at the funeral home. Mavis was born in Sioux City, Iowa on June 2, 1927 the daughter of Richard and Lena Redmon. She attended and graduated from the Sioux City Community Schools. She was a lifelong resident of Sioux City.
She was united in marriage with Robert Jaynes in 1948 and the couple later divorced. On May 20, 1970 she was united in marriage with Thomas La Croix in Yankton, South Dakota.
Mavis worked for several years for the Zenith Corporation ,following the closing of the plant, she worked in commercial cleaning until retiring several years ago.
She loved to read, watch television and for many years, she enjoyed bowling.
She is survived by her husband Thomas of Sioux City, her son Wesley Jaynes of Sioux City and her daughter Dena Mills of Longmont, Colorado. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mavis was preceded in death by her parents and two daughters: Janelle and GiGi.
