Maureen “Sissy” Hannel, 73, of Dakota Dunes, SD passed away surrounded by her friends and family on 14, April 2025 at a Sioux City hospital.  A celebration of life will be held on April 19, 2025 in the community room of Sterling Green Estates, 320 Dakota Dunes Blvd.  The eulogy will begin at 1:00 p.m. with family present until 4:00 p.m.  Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Sissy was born on 18 October 1951 in Oakland CA to Maurice and Harriet (Hillmer) Morley.  Sissy moved to the Sioux City when she was a teenager an met the love of her life in 1979.  She married Joe Hannel on 30 November 1979 in Hinton Ia.  The union of Joe and Sissy resulted in 5 children.

Although Sissy held many positions in her life her greatest rolls were as wife, mother and eventually grandma and great grandma.

Sissy lived her life full of passion and to the greatest extent.  Often being the fun life of the party.  Sissy had many passions in her life including photography, traveling, cooking, baking and spending time with her family.

Those left to honor her memories include her husband, Joe Hannel; children: Christopher (Beth) Taylor, Jeromey (Tobie) Hannel, Sean (Jami) Hannel, Sarah (Ryan) Hough, Zachary (Adriana) Hannel; 14 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; siblings Jean Rendall, Jill Morley, Bobbi Jo Solorzano, and several nieces and nephews.

Sissy is preceded in death by her parents Maurice and Harritt; Grandma Elizabeth Morley, Llyod and Lois Hannel her in-laws; two brothers Mike and Chris; and a sister Dolly.

Sissy, much like her famous macaroni salad, will be loved and missed.
