Matthew “Matt” J. Ahlsten, age 35, of Sioux City passed away on Sunday November 3, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday November 8, 2013 at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff with burial following in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5-8pm with the family present 6-8 and a Time of Sharing held at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Matt was born in Sioux City, Iowa on March 21, 1978, the son of Kurt and Donna (Goldsmith) Ahlsten. He attended Sioux City Community Schools.

Matt worked as an auto body technician for several years. He was an artist who loved to draw pictures, loved dirt bikes and working on cars. Most recently he had begun mixed martial arts. His daughter Aubrey was his “baby love” who tells us that she and her daddy spent their time together going to parks and taking walks. . His “goddess” Ella would give her daddy the biggest smiles and he could make her laugh and giggle like no one else. Matt was always the funniest person in the room, had a HUGE HEART and was willing to give his last dollar to those in need.

Matthew’s life and memories will be missed by his family which includes his mother Donna and her special friend Mitch Albright of Sergeant Bluff, his fiancée Stephanie Oligmueller of Sioux City, his daughters: Aubrey and Ella, his sisters: Mandi Marshall and her husband Bryan of Sioux City, Anna “Boo” Ahlsten and her companion Marcus Anderson of Sioux City, along with his nieces Allanah and Anaiah, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his dad Kurt in 2001 and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
