Mary M. Jonas, 77 of Sioux City, passed away Friday, July 10, 2015 at local care facility.
Memorial services will be held 3 pm Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. with Chad Cardwell officiating. Visitation with the family present will start at 1 pm.
Mary was born on November 6, 1937 in Boyd County, Nebraska, the daughter of Benjamin and Clara (Critchfield) Scadden. Mary was united in marriage to Leonard Cunningham in 1957 in White River, South Dakota.
Mary worked in care facilities at Elk Point and later at Winner, South Dakota as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant. She retired in 2002 from the Elder Inn Assisted Living in Winner. She moved to Sioux City in 2002. Mary enjoyed playing cards, walking and especially being with her grandchildren. She enjoyed studying the Bible with one of Jehovah's Witnesses and had the goal of one day dedicating her life to our Creator, Jehovah.
Mary is survived by her sons, Leonard (Danna) Cunningham of South Sioux City, Benjamin (Celeste) Cunningham of Sioux City, Bill (Sherrie) Cunningham of Akron and Steve (Misty) Cunningham of Sioux City; her daughters, Loretta (and significant other Mike Atwood) Cunningham and Teri (Steve) Mackey, all of Sioux City; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren: and her brothers, Larry (Linda) Scadden of Sioux City and Pete Scadden of Gibbon, Nebraska.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leonard in 1982, one son, Donald Cunningham in 1996, and two sisters, Wanda Grim and Loraine Reed.
