Mary L. Coenen, 87, of Sioux City, IA, passed away April 16, 2024.  A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, April 30th at 11:00 a.m. at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.

Mary was born on December 1, 1936, in Mapleton, IA to Clyde and Elsie Cameron.  She graduated from high school in Castana, IA and went on to receive her Master's Degree from Briar Cliff University.  Mary taught as a schoolteacher at McKinley and Joy Elementary Schools, as well as in Hornick and Ft. Dodge.  She was united in marriage to Donald Coenen on August 10, 1974, in Elk Point, SD.  Together they enjoyed traveling, especially to Branson, MO to attend concerts.  Mary loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching them grow.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Don Coenen; son, Ryan Coenen; stepdaughter, Tracy Coenen; grandchildren: Braden Coenen, Daniel Bush, Tyler Bush, and Darylanne Coenen; and 4 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gerald Cameron; and a granddaughter, Regan Coenen.
