Mary Louise Christiansen, 71, of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Westwood Nursing Home. Services will be held 11:30 am, Monday, December 18, 2017 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City with Rev. Martha Anderson officiating. A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 pm, Sunday, December 17, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Castana, Iowa at a later date.

Mary was born on January 30, 1946 in Halfway, Oregon to Nelson and Wilda (Powers) Jessip. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from East High School in 1964. Mary was united in marriage to Larry Christiansen on September 6, 1991. They later divorced.

Over the years, Mary had worked at Zenith and Aalfs. She retired from Western Iowa Tech Community College after there for 20 plus years as a custodian. Family was the most important aspect of her life. She also enjoyed cooking, going to casinos, and all types of animals.

Survivors include her children, Cobi Christiansen, Tyler Christiansen, Starla (Ron) Wacheldorf, Larry (Lisa) Christiansen, Brenda Hanner, Belinda King, and Brad (Jody)
Christiansen, all of Sioux City; many grandchildren; several great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and many other family and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; infant grandson; and many close friends.
