Obituary

Mary Lynn Bjorkman, 78, of Sioux City, IA, passed away surrounded by her family on February 8, 2025.  Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services at this time.  Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Mary was born on June 22, 1946, in Anita (Chilton) and Valentine Norcott in Sioux City, IA.  She graduated from Leeds High School in Sioux City 1964.  She worked for Sioux Transportation for many years, which is where she met her husband, Harold Parkhill.  They had a daughter, Jenni.  Later in her career, Mary became involved in-Home Decorating at Hatch Furniture and JC Penney.

In 2001, Mary married Dale Bjorkman.  Dale passed in December 2023.  During her marriage to Dale, Mary worked as an independent decorator and entrepreneur restoring old furniture, creating beautiful purses and hats and providing decorating services to many in the Siouxland area.  Mary was an energetic, creative person who loved and had a joy for life, loved people and her family intensely and was always able to make a house a home for her spouse and stepchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter; Jenni Meier and Greg Deaton, Sioux City; stepdaughters: Jodi (Brad) Danke, Sioux City, Jerry (Tom) Onjuakka, Vulcan, MI, Jami Bjorkman and Glen Platt, Shelly (Juhn) Weatherby, Des Moines, IA; stepsons: Pat Parkhill, Sioux City, Dan (Jane) Parkhill, Lawton, IA, Joe (Brenda) Parkhill, Sioux City; sister, Ann Brodersen, Sioux City; niece, Andrea Norcott, Sioux City; nephew, Seth (Celeste) Norcott, Portland, OR; and many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale Bjorkman; brother, Mark Norcott; and a niece, Lyn Brodersen.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Hospice of the Midwest for their gracious support and services.
