Marvin V. Barnes, 72, of Salix passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2015. Services will be held 7:00pm Monday, January 19, 2015 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. A visitation will be held 4-7, at the funeral home.
Marvin was born July 14, 1942 in Sioux City, Iowa the son of the late Archie Barnes and Dorothy (Law) Barnes. He graduated in 1960 from Lawton Bronson High School in Lawton, Iowa.
Marvin was united in marriage to Lois Gagnon on July 11, 1964, and with this union they were blessed with four children; Dan, Doug, Dottie and Tina. Marvin entered the Army shortly after getting married and served until 1970. Marvin worked for Purina Mills, Inc. for a little over 25 years and after his retirement he continued his woodworking up until he passed away.
He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, woodworking, race cars, gardening, flowers and farming. Marvin was also an avid collector of race cars and trucks.
Marvin life will always be remembered by his wife Lois of Primghar, IA, his two sons Dan and fiancé Brenda of Scottsdale, AZ, Doug of Dakota City, NE, two daughters Dottie Schwebach and fiancé Tom Kron of South Sioux City, NE, Tina and Justin Jocobson of Primghar, IA, foster son Gary Scofield of Idaho and a sister Arlene Nelson and her husband Duane of Lincoln, NE. Twelve grandchildren; Jacob, Ails, Stephen, Devon, Cheyenne, Deen, D.J., Mike, Austin, Skylar, Taylor, and Lindsey, six great-grandchildren; Natalya, Christina, Emmi, Ryaleen and two great- grandsons. Marvin was loved very much by his best friend Buddy!
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Irene Barnes, grandparents Frank and Jennie Law and one niece Joni Nelson.
