Martin Raymond Schon, age 56, of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Wednesday January 8, 2014.

A Celebration of Martin’s Life will be held on Monday from 3-5 pm at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff. Interment will be held at a later date in the Sloan Cemetery at Sloan, Iowa. Online condolences for the family may be made at www.waterburyfuneralserviceinc.com.

Martin was born on June 15, 1957 in Onawa, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Frances (Calhoun) Schon. He attended Sioux City Community Schools. Following his high school education, Martin attended Morningside College for a period of time.

Martin owned and operated Service Maintenance Company. He enjoyed spending time with his son and three grandchildren as well as being involved in genealogy, sports, his plants and spending time with his friends at Bob’s Watering Hole. He had assisted with Toys For Tots for many years.

He is survived by his son Cory of Sioux City, daughter-in-law Lesley Wayt of Sioux City, two brothers: Dennis of Costa Mesa, CA., and Steven of San Antonio, TX., and two sisters: Carmen Thompson of Sioux City and Betty Jo Adams of San Diego, CA. He is also survived by his three grandchildren: Davin, Mariah, and Connor.

Martin was preceded in death by his parents.
