Martin Leroy McGuire, 82, of Sioux City, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 3, 2017. Services will be held 10:30 am on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, officiated by his grandson, Rev. Travis Baker. A visitation will begin one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with funeral honors by the Unites States Navy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Marin's wife, Darlene. There will be a luncheon at the funeral home, following the burial at Memorial Park.
Martin was born on August 5, 1934 in West Point, Nebraska, the son of VanBuren and Amelia (Novak) McGuire. Martin attended school in Pender, Nebraska and married Darlene Butler on April 18, 1964 in Pipestone, Minnesota. Martin was a farmer for most of his life, but also did construction, mostly in the Siouxland area, before retiring in 1992.
Martin enjoyed collecting clocks, tractors, and belt buckles. Family was the most important aspect of his life. Where ever you would see Martin, his wife was close by, they were very close. His grandson, Travis, was very close to him, and would cut his hair whenever needed.
Survivors include is wife of 52 years, Darlene; children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; sisters, Mavis (Donald) Berg of Pender, NE and Lois, of California; brother, Bill McGuire of Omaha, NE.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Alvin McGuire.
