Mark J. Plantenberg, age 38, of Sergeant Bluff died Monday January 30, 2012 at a local hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday February 3, 2012 at 10:30am from St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix. Mr. Plantenberg will be cremated following the funeral service and inurnment will take place at a later date in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5-8pm at the church. Waterbury Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. Mark was born in Rapid City, South Dakota on July 18, 1973, the son of Norman and Lois(Loisel) Plantenberg. The family moved to Sergeant Bluff shortly following his birth. Mark attended Sergeant Bluff-Luton Community Schools and graduated with the class of 1991.
Mark worked for Gateway learning valuable experience in the IT field, following his employment there, he established and operated CPM consulting, and most recently worked in IT for Liberty National Bank.
He enjoyed the outdoors, all sports, with his favorite teams being the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball team and was a huge fan of the Pittsburg Steelers Football team. Mark also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and many friends.
He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Mark will be missed by his family which includes his parents Norman and Lois of Sergeant Bluff, his three children: Brendon, Taylor, and Easton, his three brothers: Gary of Sergeant Bluff, Brian and his wife Jessica of Sioux City, and Randy of Sergeant Bluff along with his paternal grandfather and maternal grandmother, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
