Mark R. Petersen, 47, of Sergeant Bluff, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018 following a short, courageous battle with cancer. Celebration of Mark's Life will be held at 6:00 pm, Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City with a small lunch to follow. A visitation will begin at 4:00 pm until time of service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, contributions may be given to the family to assist in Mark's burial at Memorial Park Cemetery, to be held at a later date.

Mark was born on September 12, 1970 in Sioux City to Clarence (Red) and Marilyn (Camerer) Petersen. He worked at various places throughout his life, including Hebert Construction as a diesel mechanic for the last 16 years. Mark was a skilled welder, enjoyed fishing, and always had to be doing something in the garage. Anyone who knew him knew that Mark had a kind heart and a funny sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends.

Survivors include his fiancee, Kathryn Camden and their daughter, Elizabeth "Lizzy" Petersen of Sergeant Bluff; sisters, Cindy (Jeff) Conrad of Spencer, NE, Chris (Kirk) Wilson of Sergeant Bluff, and Cheri (Peter) Salenius of Mendon, MA; nieces and nephews, Curtis, Reece, Eric, Kelsey, Katie, and Elizabeth; and many other family members.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents.
