Mark Gerald Callahan was born on Monday, June 25, 1956 in Sioux Falls, SD to John Patrick and Genevieve (West) Callahan. He graduated from Heelan High School and received an associate's degree from Western Iowa Tech.
Mark worked at CableCom before starting his own business, Comm Tech Cable. He was a very tech-savvy and knew everything there was to know about cable.
Mark was united in marriage to Michele Burr-Heeney on May 6, 1983.
He was a very actively involved father, attending as many of his children's sporting events as he could; near or far. The family took many yearly vacations, traveling around the country in their old Astro minivan.
Mark was an avid sports fan and especially loved the Green Bay Packers, New York Yankees, and Notre Dame Football. Spending evenings at home with family, making popcorn and watching TV was something he really enjoyed . He loved rock music, Led Zepplin and Pink Floyd being his favorites.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Michele; children, Mychel (Janelle) Larson of Scottsdale, AZ, Lindsay (Shannon McKenzie) Callahan of Fraser, CO, David and Alexander Callahan, both of Sioux City; grandchildren, Kaleb Callahan and Nevin Larson; brothers, Michael (Jenni) Callahan of Huntsville, AL and Jack (Holly) Wardell of Carroll, IA; and his dog companion, Bruiser.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Christine Alvano; and brother, Matthew Callahan.
