Marilyn J. Upton, 60, of Sioux City, passed away Monday, November 4, 2013 at a local hospital. Services will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at St. James United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.
Marilyn was born in Sioux City on December 15, 1952, the daughter of Leo and Shirley Miller. Marilyn was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. Marilyn married Patrick Upton in 1971, they were married for 22 years, during which time she was blessed with three children, Steve, Mike and Kelly. Marilyn was a registered nurse for 15 years; ten of the years were at Mercy Medical Center. Marilyn was also a teacher at Western Iowa Tech for 8 years. In Marilyn's younger years she enjoyed time on the town with her sisters and friends, the girls enjoyed their "social time." Marilyn loved music, reading, and her favorite television shows. Most importantly Marilyn enjoyed spending time with her friends, children, and grandchildren.
Survivors include her children: Steven Upton of Sandy, OR, Michael Upton and his wife Jamie of Sioux City, and Kelly Upton of Sioux City, sisters Marlene Clayton of Jackson, NE, and Patty Cranmer of CO, and three wonderful grandchildren, Kayla Graves, Tanner Camarigg-Upton, and Parker Upton, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved brother Edward Miller.
