Marie Ann Turner, 82, of Sioux City, IA, passed away surrounded by her family on November 4, 2024, at a local care center.  A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation 1 hour prior at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Marie was born on January 26, 1942, in Orange City, IA to Peter and Mary Van Gelder.  She graduated from Orange City High School and grew up in Orange City, IA.  She was proud of her Dutch heritage. After graduating high school Marie then moved to Sioux City, IA.  Marie took pride in maintaining her home and enjoyed being with her dogs, watching T.V. and hosting family/friend events.  She also loved NASCAR and stock car races. Marie worked for Metz Baking Company most of her life and is where she later retired from.

Those left to honor her memory include her children: Shane Turner and Lori (Rick) Wynn; grandchildren: Dustin (Stephanie) McDonald, Lindsey (Josh) Hebert, and Amber (Josh) Mahnke. Great grandchildren: Matthew Bunch, Lathan McDonald, Shelby McDonald, Brinley Hebert, Carter Hebert, Logan Hebert and Dylan Mahnke.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Arie Van Gelder (uncle) and Hattie Van Gelder (aunt).
