, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Vermillion, SD, with Pastor Sandy Aakre officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff.
Margaret Eleanor Gilbert Schweers Stinehart was born February 6
th
, 1944 to Myron and Lila Gilbert in Milford Iowa. She was raised with 3 other siblings, 2 sisters and her older brother. She was lifelong resident of the Siouxland area. She graduated from Milford High School and moved to Sioux City Iowa to attend college. While working at the Green Gable’s at 18
th
and Pierce Street in Sioux City as a waitress, she was introduced to her first husband Hermann Schweers of Ponca Nebraska by a frequent customer and neighbor of Hermann’s. They were united in marriage on June 7
th
, 1964 and raised their 2 sons on the farm near Ponca and a home in South Sioux City sharing their marriage for a little over 17 years.
In 1987, she re-met Henry “Hank” Stinehart of Milford Iowa, a longtime family friend who worked with her Dad Myron in his well digging business, while she was doing one of her favorite hobbies, roller skating at Arnold’s Park. They were united in marriage in December of 1988. They shared 17 years of marriage together at their home in rural Milford Iowa and wintered in Yuma Arizona.
Before her battle with dementia, Margaret enjoyed several hobbies of fishing, camping, gardening, painting, being involved in her church in Vermillion, going to horse shows with her sister Linda watching her niece Jody compete and cribbage club in Sioux City. Margaret was also an avid seamstress and made many medical smocks for CNA’s she knew and family members over the years amongst other creations. She worked as a waitress at Charlie’s Café in Sioux City and as a housekeeper at the Super 8 in Spencer Iowa. Of course her favorite career of all time was being a homemaker and raising her boys.
Margaret passed away on October 16 th , 2018 at Happy Siesta Care Center in Remsen Iowa where she had resided since April 18 th , 2018. Prior to that, she enjoyed her two grandchildren while living with her son Eric and his family for a little over 5 years.
Margaret is busy now preparing a place in Heaven for her sons Christopher Schweers of Ponca, Eric (HoneyLynn) Schweers of Sioux City and her grandchildren Kenneth and Jessica Schweers. She also leaves behind her sisters Linda Soucek of Okabena Minnesota and Marlene (Elwood) Johnson of Milford Iowa and many nieces and nephews from both the Schweers side and the Gilbert side of the family.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, her older brother Richard, her brother in-laws Rudy Soucek and Paul Letscher, both her husbands Hermann Schweers and Henry “Hank” Stinehart along with many other relatives and friends.
