Obituary

Margaret Ann Cunningham, age 70, of Sergeant Bluff, died unexpectedly Thursday August 2, 2012 at a Sioux City hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 4, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Friendship Community Church in Sergeant Bluff with Pastor Verlyn Schaap officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation Saturday starting at noon at the church. Waterbury Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. Margaret was born on July 7, 1942 at DeWitt, Iowa the daughter of Maurice and Jennie Treiber. She was united in marriage with Jim R. Cunningham on October 21, 1961 in Sioux City.

Through Margaret’s smile, demeanor and her gift of compassion she was inspirational and a mentor to many people who came into contact with her during her life. She always wore a friendly smile and as a breast cancer survivor, many shades of pink clothes. Margaret worked at various area businesses during the years, and was currently working with her daughters at Buy-Rite Signs in Sergeant Bluff during the week and spending weekends with Jim vending at swap meets.

Margaret attended the Friendship Community Church in Sergeant Bluff. Margaret enjoyed her family and was a driving force in shaping her children and grandchildren values and ethics. She will be greatly missed by her family and all that knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years Jim Ray Cunningham of Sergeant Bluff, her daughters: Julie Kever of Sergeant Bluff, Jenice and her husband Kelly Pry of Sergeant Bluff, and her son Jim Cunningham and his wife Pam of Yankton, South Dakota. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Shaun and Nickole Pry, Josh Cunningham, Jessica Cunningham, Darrin Pry, Donald James Kever, Michael Kever, Jordyn Cunningham, Syd Boots, Blaze Cunningham. and Blake Cunningham, great-grandson Max Totton, and her mother Jennie Treiber. She is also survived by her siblings Terry Treiber and husband Rick, Janet and husband Ted Harvey, and a brother-in-law Jim Hanson, along with niece Jen and her husband Cory Churchill.

She was preceded in death by her father and two sisters: Janice Treiber, and Barb Hanson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a memorial in her memory to be determined.
