Mabel Lucille Swanger, 89, of Ozark, MO, formally of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on September 17, 2024, surrounded by family. Services will be held on Tuesday, September 24 at 10:30 a.m., with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service at Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton. Burial will be at Floyd Township Cemetery in Bronson.  Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Mabel was born on February 3, 1935, in Sioux City, IA to Ed and Luella (Padel) Larson. She graduated from Bronson High School in 1953. Mabel married Milo Swanger on May 22,1954, just celebrating 70 wonderful years together this past May.

Mabel owned and managed a beauty shop called Down to Earth in Sioux City for many years. Mabel enjoyed making quilts, sewing and doing ceramics. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Around Christmas time she would often be found in the kitchen with her grandchildren making Christmas candy and cookies.  Sundays would be filled with family dinners and memories being made. Mabel also enjoyed her trips to Las Vegas.

Mabel is survived by her husband of 70 years, Milo Swanger; children: Deborah Swanger, Sandra Lloyd, Penny Austin (Dennis), Scott Swanger; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Dean Larson; and sisters: Marilyn Blatchford and Dorothy Corbin.
