Lyle Dean Heezen, 78, of Obert, Nebraska passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2022 in Yankton, South Dakota. Funeral Services will be held 10:30am Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Lyle was born Saturday, December 25, 1943 to Herbert and Esther (Scales) Heezen in Stickney, South Dakota. Lyle grew up to be a truck driver and spent all of his working years doing just that. He also drove truck for special friend's Gayle and Barb Hochstein (Hartington Concrete). He retired from the Central Valley AG. In his retirement years he worked part time for Cedar Beef. Lyle married Lorraine Hankins (Bellis) and they spent 25 happy years together.

Lyle was a kind man who would do anything for anyone. He loved to hunt, fish, camp and garden. Lyle also enjoyed going to auctions and family gatherings with country music being played by his son-in-law’s family. He was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan and always enjoyed a cold Busch Lite. He was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He was very old fashioned in his ways; you would always find him in his overalls and boots!

His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren held a special place in his heart, as well as his dog, Candy.

Lyle is survived by his wife, Lorraine; children; David (Cindy) Hankins, Don Hankins, and Deb (Ron) Derby; many grandchildren; brother, Jerry Heezen, special friends, Dennis, Marcia, Aiden Cash; nieces, Mickey and Molly and brother-in-law, Pat McCauley.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Jeannie McCauley.
