Lyle was born on August 19, 1933 in St.
James, Minnesota, the
son of Raymond and Elvina (Krumrel) Eaton. Lyle entered the Army in the early
1950’s and served in the Korean War. After his discharge, he began working for
the Chicago
Northwestern Railroad.
On October 15, 1955 he was united in marriage to Maxine Trimble in Sioux City. He continued
working as an Engineer for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad, which later
merged with the Union Pacific, for 42 years, retiring in 1996.
Lyle loved spending time with his family, especially his children and
grandchildren. Every summer he would plan a trip to the Rocky
Mountains and take the grandchildren. During the past 12 years, he
and Maxine spent much time together traveling in their motor home. During his
travels, he enjoyed deep sea fishing and meeting so many wonderful friends. His
hobbies included fixing anything himself, building model ships, playing fetch
and taking his dogs for walks, boating in Okoboji and on the Missouri
River, and sitting on the deck of his new home with the love of
his life Maxine. If he didn’t know how to fix something, he learned and fixed
it himself. He was always there to lend a helping hand whether it was his
neighbor, daughters or any other family members. He enjoyed taking care of his
yard, and received awards for the best kept yards. He was a wonderful role
model to all of his family. His wisdom and advice will be cherished forever.
Lyle was a member of the Community
