Lyle L. Anderson, 76 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at a local hospital surrounded by his family. Celebration of life will be held from 5-7 pm on Monday July 1 st at 1463 155 th Street, Sioux City. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff.
Lyle Lester Anderson was born December 5, 1942 in Albaton, Iowa the son of Lester and Violet (Carlson) Anderson. Lyle graduated in 1961 from Whiting High School. He enlisted in the Army and honorably discharged in 1967. Lyle married Charlene Boggio on September 14, 1996. He worked at A.B. Dick for 32 years and worked at M&M Copy.
Lyle was an enthusiastic horseman throughout his life. He was an avid member of the North West Iowa Horse Show Association and the Wolf Creek Saddle Club of Moville, Iowa. Lyle enjoyed spending his summers training and showing his horses with his family and close friends. He lived for his grandchildren, and taught two of his granddaughters to ride horses and passed along his love of horses to his grandson. Lyle will be remembered for being a gentle, loving and passionate horseman – and also making the best Sandbakkles, officially known as Sunbuckles to his family, in the world.
Lyle is survived by his wife Charlene “Char” of Sioux City, IA, sister Lana (Delayne) Folsom of Hornick, IA, brother-in-law Joe Albers of Akron, IA, niece, Amber (Travis) Phipps, son, Terry Gardner of Sioux City, IA, three daughters, Tiffany Gorter of Kansas City, MO, Tausha Rogers of Sioux City, IA, Rachael Barrett of Sioux City, IA, and four grandchildren, Kayleigh Barrett, Elizabeth Gardner, Jimmy Gorter, Arh’Lyn Cousineau.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Lavon Whitmore, and a nephew.
