Lucille Mabel Walker, age 88, of Sioux City died on Wednesday November 2, 2011 at a local care facility with her loving family present.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 5, 2011 at 11:00am from Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Tess Panamarow officiating. Mrs. Walker will be cremated following the funeral service and a private family interment will be held in Graceland Park cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held Friday from 5-8pm with the family present after 6 and a prayer service held at 7:00 pm at the church. Waterbury Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. Lucille was born on January 24, 1923 in Alma City, Minnesota the daughter of Frank and Sophie (Boehm) Rath.
Lucille was united in marriage with Maynard Wieck in 1940 in Merrill,Iowa They later divorced. She married Miles Judson Walker III in 1962, and he preceded her in death.
She formerly worked at Alfs Manufacturing in production and also at the main branch of the Sioux City Public Library as a page for several years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she participated in the women’s circle and always enjoyed the time she could spend with her family and friends at church.
Lucille was a wonderful mother, who enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, reading, playing BINGO, and just being in the country. She was a country girl at heart, who enjoyed her independence and had a wonderful sense of humor that she shared with all those around her.
Lucille will be missed by her family which includes her sons; Gary Wieck and his wife Connie of Dakota City, Ne.; Leonard Wieck and his wife Cindy of Omaha, Nebraska, and her daughter Lana Dye of Sioux City. She is also survived by her brother Harold of New York, sisters, Violet Vollbrecht of Waterville, Minnesota and Florence Knoop of South Sioux City, Nebraska, her eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and both of her husbands’ a sister Elizabeth and a brother Harry.
