Luann Ruth Vaught, 70, of Sioux City, IA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 10, 2025, in Omaha, NE, after a courageous battle with a brief illness. A funeral service will be held Friday, May 16 at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation 1 hour prior at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Burial will be at Banner Township Cemetery in Lawton, IA.
Luann was born on November 15, 1954, in Henderson, Nebraska, to Matilda and John R. Kliewer, Luann lived a life marked by faith, family, and service.
Luann graduated from Henderson Public School District in 1973 and soon after became a military spouse to D. Kim Vaught, embarking on a journey that took her to various corners of the United States. Her adventurous spirit and resilience shone through as she embraced life in new places, eventually settling in the Sioux City, Iowa area in 1994, where she built a lasting home.
A devoted mother of four, Luann is survived by her son Justin (Amy) Vaught of Sioux City, Iowa, and their children Brianna (Josh), Sam, Jacob, Kade, and Josiah; her daughter Andrea (Luke) Uribe of Sioux City, Iowa, and their children Mychaela (Josiah), Kaitlyn, Jaxon, and Chloe; her daughter Amber (Travis) Paulson of Omaha, Nebraska, and their children Quinn and Pierce; and her son Jordan (Raina) Vaught of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, and their children Brittanie, Keven, Haileigh, and Kennadee. Her love for her children and grandchildren was boundless, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Luann dedicated 20 years of her career to Security National Bank, retiring in November 2024. Her professionalism and warmth left a lasting impact on colleagues and clients alike. Above all, Luann’s passion for Christ defined her life. As an active member of her church for over 30 years, she found joy in worship, fellowship, and serving her community.
In addition to her children and grandchildren, Luann is survived by her great grandchildren, Kamdyn, Roselynn, Weston, and Kailey, her stepmother, June Kliewer, and her siblings: Ferd (Lene) Weins, Sue (Dale) Janzen, Joyce (Marcellus) Wall, Grace (Les) Zook, and Kathy (Blake) Matousek. She was preceded in death by her parents, Matilda and John R. Kliewer.
Luann’s legacy of faith, love, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
