Obituary

Lisa K. Fylstra, 43 of Salix, died Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the University of Kansas in Kansas City, Kansas.

Services will be held 10 am Friday, Nov. 16th at the Salix United Methodist Church with Rev. Martha Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Merrill. Visitation 6-8 pm Thursday at the church with a 7 pm prayer service. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.

Lisa was born on November 30, 1968 in Sioux City, the daughter of Robert and Patricia (Hudson) Dawdy. She graduated in 1987 from West High School. After her graduation, she attended college in Rapid City, South Dakota, and returned to Sioux City to St. Lukes School of Nursing. After earning her Registered Nurse degree, Lisa worked in NICU at St. Lukes and later at Grandview Medical Clinic, and was most recently working as the health director at the Floyd House Assisted Living in Sergeant Bluff.

Lisa was united in marriage to Jeff Fylstra on September 19, 1992 in Sioux City, and to this union two children were born, her daughter, Natalie in 1995 and her son, Nathan in 2001. They had made their home on an acreage in Sergeant Bluff, later bought a home near Browns Lake.

Lisa loved her family, and was known for always putting everyone before herself. Lisa had a love for music, riding horses, going to her children’s plays and events.

Lisa is survived by her husband of 20 years, Jeff; her daughter Natalie; her son Nathan; her mother, Pat Rogers and step-father, Bob Rogers; her father, Robert Dawdy; a brother, Robert Dawdy, Jr.; a sister, Christina Rogers and her partner Jo Anna; several aunts and uncles; her mother and father in-law, Judy and Don Fylstra; a sister in-law, Penny and her husband Mike Fox; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to give much appreciation to all that have shown support for Lisa during her illness and especially to her Aunt Wendy and Uncle Brett for spending some time with Lisa in Kansas City.
