Linda was born on September 26, 1942, in Corning, New York, to Gordon and Marion (Brewer) Platt. She attended Corning Free Academy and later dedicated her life to hard work and serving others. Over the years, she held positions at Darby Dan Farms, Interbake, Iams, Mercy Medical Center, and also spent time as a truck driver—embracing the freedom and independence of the open road. However, her most cherished role came after retirement, when she became a Senior Companion. She found deep fulfillment in caring for those with vision impairments and Alzheimer’s or dementia, forming lasting friendships along the way.

Linda was united in marriage to Harold Swingen, and together they had two sons, Michael and Mark Swingen. Though they later divorced, Linda found love again and married George Campbell. They were blessed with a son, George Campbell Jr.  A fiercely independent and strong woman, Linda was known for her deep love of animals a passion she carried from childhood throughout her life. She also had a special love for NASCAR, rarely missing a race, and enjoyed the quiet joy of crocheting often creating thoughtful gifts and keepsakes for her loved ones.

Those who knew Linda admired her resilience. She was a true fighter to the very end, facing life’s challenges with grit, grace, and determination.

One of the greatest joys in her later years was the bond she shared with her great-granddaughter, Kayleeann. The love between them was something truly special filled with laughter, affection, and quiet moments that Linda cherished deeply. Kayleeann brought her a renewed sense of joy, and Linda often lit up when talking about her or spending time with her.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: George Campbell, Michael Swingen, and Mark Swingen; grandchildren: Timothy (Lindsay) Green, Courtney Swingen, Trevor Campbell, and Drake Swingen, Annie Woodward; her treasured great-granddaughter, Kayleeann Green; her brother, Gordon (Pat) Platt; her sister, Barb (Charles) Hockman; and her special friend, Jim Nolen.

She is now reunited in eternal rest with her parents; her former husband Harold Swingen, her brother Chester Platt, and her beloved fur babies; Iggy, Jackie, Kitty, Baby, and her Grand-dog Skippy.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the teams at Holy Spirit Retirement Home and St. Croix Hospice for their compassionate care and support during Linda’s final days. Linda’s legacy of love, service, quiet strength, and fierce spirit lives on in all who knew and cherished her.
