Lila Lee Hafits

Lila Lee Hafits, 75, of Sioux City, IA, passed away August 2, 2026. A funeral service will be held Friday, August 14 at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation 1 hour prior at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Burial will be at Belvidere Cemetery in Turin, IA.

Lila was born on January 20, 1951 in Sioux City, IA to William Hickey and Delilah Bomar-Parks. Later in life she met John Carter and spent over 40 years together. Lila was a devoted follower of Christ. Lila had a passion for shopping for and giving to others. Other things she enjoyed were; chocolate, bowling, nature, spades, bingo, volunteering, holidays, and her star player Patrick Mahomes! Lila walked through life leaving a trail of quiet grace, making all who knew her feel uniquely special. Lilas greatest happiness in life came from being surrounded by her children and grandchildren which filled her heart with so much love and joy. We will all miss her warm, big hugs. You felt her love and comfort surround you.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, John Carter; children: Lisa, Christopher (Shawna) De Kok, Shannon (Felisha) Ballantyne, Renee De Kok, Alisha Hafits, and Kaylé Hafits (Mickael) ; grandchildren: Kelby, Karleigh (Chandler), Evan (Jordan) De Kok, Olivia De Kok, Bradyn Ballantyne, Jakobi Ballantyne, Brock Bishop, Myka Mahnke, Teegan Surber, and Keira Surber; great grandchildren: Spurgeon De Kok, Jethro De Kok, Lillie and Oliver.

She is preceded in death by her parents and son, Kelby Sean.
