Leota Lorraine Sorenson

Leota Lorraine Sorenson, 91, of Sioux City, IA, passed away June 8, 2026 at a local care center. A celebration of life for Leota and her husband Milton “Butch” will be held Friday, June 19 from 1-3:00 p.m. at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Leota was born on August 29, 1934 in Blencoe, IA to Donald and Myrtle (Bothwell) Kuehl. She graduated from Blencoe High School, where she played in the girls basketball team. Leota married her sweetheart, Milton “Butch” Sorenson on December 26, 1954 in Blencoe, IA. Together they raised three sons; Michael, Mitchell, Marvin. Leota enjoyed making crafts, crocheting blankets and dolls, and quilting. She worked in the lunchroom at Riverview School in Riverside.

Those left to honor her memory include her sons Michael and Mitchell (Sue); grandchildren Lauren, Anna, and Austin; and a sister, Linda Reid.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Marvin; and her husband Milton.
