Lenore M. Harrington, born March 19th, 1938 in Salix, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 29th, 2016 in Williamsburg, Virginia. She was surrounded by warmth, love, her three children, and her oldest granddaughter in her final hours.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30am this Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, Iowa. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00pm this Friday at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff.
Lenore worked for the American Red Cross before eventually moving to southern California, where she raised her children and cared for her family. She went back to school in her 50s and attended Southwestern College, where she studied early childhood development. Lenore became a certified preschool aide and volunteered at the college’s preschool. Being a mother and grandmother brought her immense joy. They were the light of her life.
Lenore will be remembered for her love of swimming, bowling, bingo, arts & crafts, gardening, baking, meditation, and daily walks to the beach. She had a deep love for the ocean, the outdoors, and God’s little creatures. A devout Catholic, Lenore was the true embodiment of what a good person should be. She was pure of heart and her love and kindness will never be forgotten.
Lenore is survived by her siblings: George Harrington, Audrey Kurth, Timothy Harrington, Julie Winter, and Kevin Harrington. Her children: Margaret Halloran, Rita Bush, and Gerald Truitt. And her grandchildren: Chloe Bush, Phoebe Bush, Lauren Halloran, Trevor Halloran, and Aidan Truitt.
We love you very much and know God gained another angel the day you passed. Thank you for the kindness you brought into the world and your apple pie.
