Lena M. Benson

Lena M. Benson, 92 of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at a local hospital, surrounded by her family.

Lena was born July 1, 1933 in Sioux City, Iowa she was the daughter of Pete and Mary (Pironaggi) De Fazio. She attended school in Sioux City, Iowa. Lena married Glenn Benson in 1950 and in this union eight children were born. Glenn later passed on October 12, 2015.

She enjoyed working as a house cleaner over the years and worked in the Sheriff Dept Jailer from the 1950’s through the 1960’s. Lena would go camping, fishing and play bingo in her free time. But she would love it when her family came over to visit.

Lena memories will be remembered by her six children, Mike (Renee) Benson, Todd Benson, Geno (Mary Hoover) Benson, Jeannie (Donald) Eck, Teri (Bill) Bryce, Penny (Edward Reyes) Garcia, four sisters, Mary Livermoor, Teresa, Eva, and Doloris Wolfe, numerous grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Mary, husband, Glenn, two daughters, Tami Blackwell and Vicki Warner.
